FI Consulting helps organizations better manage complex portfolios by applying Data, Modeling, Analytics, and Technology to solve hard business problems. Our work helps commercial and government financial institutions gain insight into performance, manage risk, and improve operations.  

We seek to hire a highly motivated senior consultant to lead client projects, work with client executives, and serve as technical lead for project and business development activities on priority accounts. This individual will architect project design and a plan for execution, advise analysts and consultants in their work, and independently take on tasks, as needed, to successfully meet client objectives.

They continually explore the market to synthesize a point of view on the best solutions and approaches to solve our clients’ business problems and understand the advantages and disadvantages of competing approaches. They communicate clearly and concisely and articulate highly complex and technical content to individuals of all levels and varying technical abilities. They have an innate desire to deliver exceptional value to FI’s clients and teammates and take the necessary steps to enable their success. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Serve as technical lead on client projects. Drive exceptional work products on time and on budget with limited supervision. Monitor progress, manage risk and ensure key FI and client stakeholders are informed about progress and expected outcomes. Stay abreast of current business and industry trends relevant to the client's business. 

  • Review the work of and provide constructive on-the-job coaching to team members. Foster an innovative, team-oriented, and results-driven work environment. Play an active role in counseling and mentoring junior consultants within the firm. 

  • Create and deliver presentations to client senior management. 

  • Support new business opportunities by leading the technical and solution aspects of client business development meetings. Understand FI Consulting capabilities and actively seek out ways to serve clients. Develop and maintain long-term client relationships and networks. 

  • Demonstrate deep technical capabilities and professional knowledge. Demonstrate ability to quickly assimilate new knowledge. Possess in-depth business acumen. Remain current on new developments in FI services, capabilities, and industry knowledge. 

  • Be active in the data and analytics community by speaking at conferences, writing articles and whitepapers, and participating in panel discussions. 

Required qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s in Economics, Finance, Math, Computer Science, or applicable quantitative or technical field 

  • Advanced degree (Masters or PhD) or training in Quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, or Econometrics 

  • 5+ years of experience delivering data management and analytics projects 

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and technical writing skills 

  • Leadership aptitude with an ability to articulate highly technical information in a simple, concise, clear, and understandable manner  

  • Demonstrated ability in understanding complex data and business processes  

  • Experience leading design of technical solutions and data architectures 

  • Strong analytical background and advanced level skill with one or more of the following: R, Python, SQL, and VBA  

  • Advanced knowledge of Statistical Methods for model building, Machine Learning, and Big Data 

  • Ability to confidently interact, communicate, and influence at all levels of our clients’ organizations 

  • Energized by working in a fast-paced and demanding environment 

Preferred qualifications: 

  • Prior experience in banking, finance, or capital markets 

  • Prior consulting experience 

  • Prior management experience, or equivalent work experience providing guidance and oversight of others’ work products    

  • CFA, FRM, or other relevant certifications 

  • Hands-on experience in Generative AI, Natural Language Processing, and Deep Learning 

  • Familiarity with vector embeddings and ability to train neural networks and deep learning systems 

  • Experience implementing machine learning models in Python or R 

  • Familiarity with graph databases (RDF, property graphs) 

  • Knowledge of data visualization tools and techniques 

  • Familiarity with API design in Java or Python 

Additional Requirements:

  • Successfully pass a background investigation and drug screening. 

  • Reside in the DC Metro area within 30 days of hire.
